Hernando County Board of County Commissioners Approves Resolution
Supporting State Government Efficiency Efforts

(Brooksville, FL) – The Hernando County Board of County Commissioners (BOCC) unanimously voted on April 8, 2025, to approve a Resolution supporting government efforts in identifying unnecessary spending, creating efficiencies, and saving taxpayer dollars. This resolution aligns with Executive Order 2025-44, signed by Governor DeSantis, which directs local governments to collaborate with the Department of Governmental Efficiency Team (EOG DOGE) to review and optimize government operations.

The Resolution emphasizes Hernando County’s commitment to working in partnership with the EOG DOGE Team to conduct a comprehensive review of the County’s budget and operations. Through this collaboration, the County aims to identify inefficiencies, eliminate wasteful spending, and ensure that taxpayer dollars are being used most effectively.

“The Hernando County Board of County Commissioners recognizes the importance of government accountability and efficiency,” said Jerry Campbell, Hernando County Commissioner District 4. “By supporting this initiative, we are taking proactive steps to improve our operations, reduce unnecessary costs, and deliver better services to our residents.”

Key elements of the resolution include:

·         Collaboration with the EOG DOGE Team: The Board will work closely with the Team to identify inefficiencies and unnecessary expenditures within county operations.

·         Access to Records and Premises: The Board will grant the EOG DOGE Team access to the necessary records and physical premises to assist in their review.

·         Administrative and Policy Reforms: The Board is committed to recommending administrative or policy changes aimed at maximizing efficiency and reducing unnecessary spending.

This resolution demonstrates Hernando County’s commitment to ensuring that government operations are both effective and transparent, ultimately benefiting the residents of the county.
