If threatening weather situations and other types of public emergencies arise, the Public Information Office works together with the appropriate agencies to ensure that accurate and timely information is provided via our website, social media and news media.

Thanksgiving Office Closures for Hernando County Government

 

(Brooksville, FL) – The following Hernando County offices/services will be closed on Thursday, November 27, 2025 and Friday, November 28, 2025 in observance of Thanksgiving: 

  • All Hernando County Government offices
  • Library Services

 

Hernando County Transit Services - TheBus:

Hernando County Transit will not be providing service on Thursday, November 27, 2025 in observance of Thanksgiving – services will be provided as normal on Friday, November 28, 2025.

 

Hernando County Public Library System:

Branches will resume normal operations on Saturday, November 29, 2025. Please visit https://HernandoCountyLibrary.us/ for hours of operations and branch locations. 

 

Hernando County Solid Waste facilities:

All Solid Waste Facilities are closed and there will be NO Republic Services curbside trash, recycling or yard waste picked up on Thanksgiving Day, Thursday, November 27, 2025. 

Holiday Trash Collection Schedule (2025)

Trash and recycling will be picked up on the next regularly scheduled service date as follows:

  • Thanksgiving trash will be picked up on Monday, December 1, 2025
  • Thanksgiving recycling and yard waste will be picked up on Thursday, December 4, 2025
